Released in 1982
Now And Forever was Air Supply's third platinum album within three years, which was an extremely impressive feat. But unfortunately few bands could hope to craft so many memorable hits at such a quick pace without soon beginning to wear out their welcome in the public's eyes, and Air Supply was no different. This was the last truly successful album of their career, excluding their well-received greatest hits compilations.
If you enjoyed either of their two previous efforts, you'll certainly have a good idea of what to expect with Now And Forever since Russell Hitchcock and Graham Russell weren't about to muck around with their winning formula. Their sentimental and sometimes downright sappy combination of ballads and light pop-rock ditties made women swoon and men race to pop an Air Supply cassette into the stereo in preparation for romantic evenings.
Some of the album's highlights are:
Even The Nights Are Better was a popular track, but for the most part the rest of the album lacked the same "magic" that their previous two possessed. At their worst, Air Supply was a solid band that delivers the romantic goods, but by now their formula began growing a bit stale.
Now And Forever may not be representative of Air Supply's best, but it's still a very satisfying album for fans of the band's style of lush, orchestral pop.
