It would be tempting to try and attach a righteous or highbrow agenda to this website, but one quick glimpse at the site would betray such attempts anyways, so I'll come right out and say it: The 80's Reborn is all about reliving the fun and frivolity of the 1980's movie and music scenes. Nothing more and nothing less.
While I will admit some aspects of the excessively flashy and downright gaudy style of the 80's has become rather passé, the decade is anything but dead. Few periods in history have had nearly as much impact on culture and even the political landscape as the 1980's, and while it has become trendy among some to mock the music and movies of the decade, quite frankly its influence 20+ years later cannot be denied.
More and more commercial radio stations are dedicating part of or the entirety of their programming to 80's music. Television shows such as VH-1's I Love the 80's and Bands Reunited (which tries to reunite 80's bands for a special live performance) are extremely popular. An entire cable music video channel, VH-1 Classic, is virtually dedicated to the 80's (though they do have some 70's content too). Heck, even smash hit games such as Grand Theft Auto: Vice City have successfully introduced a new generation of kids to 80's music via the game soundtracks.
Sorry, dude, but the 80's are anything but dead. The decade's influence is still felt strongly today.
Yep! The primary focus of the 80's Reborn is to review the various films and music albums of the decade, though from time to time I also add some assorted trivia or arcade games to the site.
I try to ensure all reviews are fairly comprehensive. All movie reviews contain plot summaries (hopefully without divulging critical spoilers or twists), movie snapshots and the occasional trivia bit here or there. Music album reviews tend to be far less lengthy for obvious reasons, but all are accompanied with full track listings.
Most important of all, every single review on this website is an original and based on a full understanding of the source material. I will not review a movie or album unless I have seen it or heard it from start to finish, because I don't believe anyone can justifiably review a product they haven't witnessed the entirety of.
Nope! 80's Reborn is a fan site where all of us can relive the decade's entertainment. I try to include a good mix of obvious 80's favorites that are still highly popular today, such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, as well as more obscure gems and/or B-movies that are either easily forgotten by the masses or may have been missed by even 80's fans the first time around.
The primary goal of this site is to provide a source where we can all have a bit of fun and look back on fond memories of a time gone by, all without intrusive advertising, annoying pop-ups or other "gimmicks" of that ilk.
Well, I'm sorry! But you did visit the About Us page, where this type of self-back patting is standard faire. At any rate, now you have an idea what this site is all about.
